The Yoga Prescription for Depression
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, depression and anxiety affect approximately 54.8 million Americans or 24.8% of the population in a given year. Medication, counseling, diet and exercise can all help to ease the symptoms of these challenging conditions. This prescription is to be used in conjunction with these treatments and does not replace them. We utilize the mind/body connection that the practice of yoga provides, to help to lift the mood and soothe the central nervous system. We offer breathing and meditation techniques, active and restorative chest opening poses as well as sequences to help develop confidence and balance the endocrine system.
